Irish Songs

Kieran here from wedding band rock my reception, here is a bit about the Irish songs we can include in our set, hope you enjoy reading as much as we do playing!……

Being in Rock My Reception and playing a whole variety of different weddings, it’s always good to have decent mix of different genres of music available. As you never know when you are going to get requested to play anything from the sublime to the ridiculous.

We pride ourselves in playing any Beatles song, virtually all the well known songs from the Brit Pop era and all the Indie songs which has followed since. We also have our own niche as well, mine personally been Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry…… well in fact anything from the early Rock n Roll era, Little Richard, The Big Bopper, Del Shannon etc.

As well as the obvious decade genres is 60s, 70s 80s etc there is also music which spans all of these one good example and which we get asked to play frequently is the traditional Irish songs, many of which have been covered by band more recently, such as Whiskey In The Jar, covered by Thin Lizzy. Here is a small list of about an ‘hours worth’ of Irish classic, just enough time for the audience stink a few Guinness’s and whiskey chasers!!
