Charlotte & James

Charlotte  and Jameswere married at the beautiful Sponza Palace in the heart of Dubrovnik’s Old Town.

We played live acoustic music as their wedding guests arrived, before performing 'A Thousand Years' for Hannah’s entrance, timing our live arrangement to finish naturally just as she reached the front of the ceremony.

There is no legal signing during the ceremony at Sponza Palace, but we performed 'All You Need Is Love' by The Beatles during the service, with guests joining in using the lyrics printed in the order of service.

Charlotte and James then left the ceremony to our live version of 'Send Me On My Way' by Rusted Root.

With Sponza Palace being so close to the Old Town harbour, it was ideally located for the next part of the day. Guests had time to grab a quick drink in Dubrovnik’s Old Town while the newly weds had photographs taken among the historic streets, before everyone made their way to the King's Landing for the boat cruise.

We joined them on board to perform live music as they cruised along the Dubrovnik coastline, before returning to the Old Town where celebrations into the evening.

Our Experience of Sponza Palace

One of the things we love most about Sponza Palace is how perfectly it fits into the historic architecture of Dubrovnik’s Old Town.

The beautiful stone courtyard also has amazing natural acoustics and from a slightly geeky musician’s point of view, it’s one of those places where acoustic guitars and voices just sound incredible!!

Its location is another huge advantage. You’re only a short walk through the Old Town to the King's Landing, making Sponza Palace ideal if you’re planning a Dubrovnik wedding boat cruise after your ceremony.

But our favourite part has to be when the newlyweds step out of Sponza Palace into the Old Town. Tourists naturally stop to watch and there’s nearly always spontaneous applause and cheering, creating an incredible moment as you walk out into the heart of Dubrovnik as a newly married couple.

Our Top Tips

  • Make the most of the acoustics and choose live music. Sponza Palace sounds incredible with acoustic guitars and vocals. We can also tailor the length and arrangement of your entrance song to your walk, so the music finishes naturally as you reach the front. No awkward fade outs!

  • Get someone to capture the reaction outside. Ask a guest to be ready with their phone as you leave Sponza Palace. Tourists often stop, applaud and cheer as newlyweds step out into the Old Town, and it's a brilliant spontaneous moment to have on video.

  • Make the most of being in Dubrovnik's Old Town. Allow plenty of time for photographs around the historic streets rather than rushing on to your next venue. You can also arrange drinks at Sponza Palace immediately after the ceremony, which is well worth knowing when planning your timings.

Live Music Ideas That Work Well Here

Guest Arrival: Welcome your guests into Sponza Palace with live acoustic music. It helps take away some of that nervous pre-ceremony tension and creates a relaxed atmosphere from the moment everyone arrives.

Ceremony Music: Choose live music for the key moments of your ceremony, including your entrance and exit. We can tailor your entrance song to your walk, so it finishes naturally as you reach the front.

Continue the live music: with a mini drinks inside Sponza Palace after your ceremony, giving everyone time to celebrate and relax before heading into Dubrovnik's Old Town for the next part of your wedding day.
